Autumn Term 2018

 

 

 

At the beginning of the new school year, our main focus is to ensure that the children settle into their new class happily.  

 

 

  During the term we will be listening to the children’s ideas and interest and giving them the opportunity to lead when choosing tasks and creating interesting and stimulating activities within the areas.

 

 

 

Our theme that the children have chosen at the start of this term will be

 

'Who? What? Why? When?'.

During the term, we will continue to change our theme following the children's lead and interest along with activities related to Harvest Festival and Christmas.

- A trip to Pets at Home Wrexham

- A surprise visit from a special pet !!!

- A visit and workshop by a representative from The Dogs Trust.

- A workshop by Chester Zoo Staff.

- A trip to Chester Zoo.

 

We will be completing tasks on ........

 

  • Caring for animals

 

  • Pets

 

  • Animals around the world

 

  • Gelert folk tale

 

  • Music 'Carnival of the Animals'

 

  • Fundraising for an animal charity e.g (RSPCA , DOGS TRUST)

 

  • The work of the artist William Brown

 

 

  • We will also be completing Thanksgiving and Christmas activities and much , much more !!

 

 

 

During the term we will also be following the children's interests and suggestions to create inspirational and exciting activities in the play areas within and outside the classroom .

Welcome to the Year 4 class page.

Autumn  Half Term 2018

 Following the literacy and numeracy framework set out by the Welsh government, we are prioritising literacy and numeracy in every aspect of the curriculum. To ensure that we are responding to the requirements we will be teaching thematically in the afternoon.

Theme: Yn Y Cymylau (In the Clouds). A member of staff from the Airbus factory has kindly asked our pupils to help design an aeroplane that can travel 24 hours. We will complete creative and practical activities chosen by the pupils, based on the theme. 

Language:  The activities in class will include writing a letter, report and advert based on the theme 'Yn y Cymylau'. Language will be completed through the medium of English.

Maths:  We will complete activities based on Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Times Tables, fractions and decimals, shape, measure, time,  multiplication and subtraction.

Science: The Solar System

Design and Technology: Building an aeroplane

 PSHE: Health and Well Being

Religious Education: Christianity
