Welcome to Year 4!
Autumn Term 2020
Welcome back after a difficult and challenging period, it's a pleasure to have you all safely back at school. At the beginning of a new school year, our main focus is to ensure that all pupils are happy and settled within their new classes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school.
Following the Literacy and Numeracy framework set out by the Welsh Government, we are prioritising literacy and numeracy in every aspect of the curriculum. To ensure that we are responding to the requirements of the new curriculum for Wales, we will be teaching thematically in the afternoon.
Theme: Fantasy. As we returned to school after the half term, we entered the class to find that something had invaded the classroom. Footprints covered the floor, and items such as a nest with broken eggs, feathers, a wand and black clothing were all found at the scene. We will now be working for the Fantasy Police in order to find out what creature had been in our class over the holidays.
Maths: We will be completing activities and lessons based on place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, shape and measure, time and money.
Language: Report, Script and description. All language work will be based on our theme, Egyptian Explorer. Language work will be completed through the medium of Welsh.
Science: Down to the Woods - Habitats and Food Chains
PSHE: Growth mindset
Design and Technology / Art: Creative tasks will be completed in theme work during afternoon lessons.
PE: Dance and Gymnastics / Sports outside every Thursday.
Thank you for your continued support!
Remember if you have any concerns you would like to discuss, please contact the school.
