Welcome to

Year 4!

Summer Term 2021

Why is the Amazon rainforest important? | WWF

Welcome back after a well deserved half term, it's a pleasure to have you all safely back at school. During our Summer term, our main focus is to ensure that all pupils are happy and settled within their new classes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school.

Following the Literacy and Numeracy framework set out by the Welsh Government, we are prioritising literacy and numeracy in every aspect of the curriculum. To ensure that we are responding to the requirements of the new curriculum for Wales, we will be teaching thematically in the afternoon.

Theme: South America. As we returned to school after the half term, we received a letter from a monkey from the Amazon asking for our help in saving the rainforest. We also received a Teams call from Size of Wales, they introduced every rainforest on our planet, and offered ideas on how we can help save our precious rainforests. Theme work will be completed through the medium of Welsh.

Maths: We will be completing activities and lessons based on place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, shape and measure, time and money.

Language: Information page, Debate and Diary. All language work will be based on our theme, South America. Language work will be completed through the medium of English.

Science: Health and Food

PSHE: Growth mindset, Circle Time and the Friends for Life Project.

Design and Technology / Art: Creative tasks will be completed in theme work during afternoon lessons.

PE: Dance and Gymnastics / Sports outside every Thursday.

Thank you for your continued support!

Remember if you have any concerns you would like to discuss, please contact the school.
